FORDBRIDGE DROP-IN CENTRE

Elegant Homes has been supporting the Fordbridge Drop-In Centre in Chelmsley Wood since 2018 when the project lost funding previously provided by the NHS, and enabling the Centre's good work to continue.

For nearly fourteen years Martin Davies and his team at the Drop-in Centre have welcomed people in the community suffering from mental health issues - offering friendship, support and the pick from a tempting tea trolley serving hot drinks, cake and biscuits!

The Centre's weekly events aim to build confidence and self-esteem by encouraging people to get out of the house, drop in for a chat and learn new skills in craft and woodworking projects. A particularly popular choice is the opportunity to make and then learn how to play electric guitars and ukuleles! Budding musicians then meet up to rehearse and frequently play at public events across the local community. Activities are always being added with a new genealogy club starting soon which will help in developing IT skills.
